Fraunhofer CCPE at the AMI Polymers in Roofing Conference

From November 18 to 20, 2025, Fraunhofer CCPE will be represented at the AMI Polymers in Roofing Conference in Brussels. Visit our booth and attend the presentation by Dr. Christian Schütz and Jan-Philipp Kopka on “High quality fibers and films from plastics recyclates – Perspectives for roofing applications and geosynthetics.”

The CCPE scientists will address the following points in their presentation:

• Roof underlayment and roofing membranes: Fibers made from PP and PET (post-consumer materials) produced for nonwovens and membranes; textiles identified as potential raw materials.
• Geosynthetics: Difficulties in fiber production from PP and PET, successful film production.
• Material flow: Sufficient quantities of PP and PET available, but logistics and sorting still need to be developed.
• LCA: Recycling processes show a global warming potential comparable to fossil production, but significant environmental benefits in the end-of-life phase.
